Class Time Structure:
|
Welcome to the art room!
Below you will find a description of our daily class routine and classroom procedures. We will learn all about them during the first few weeks of school and we'll use them all year long. All these procedures and rules are designed for our time together in class to be safe, positive and fun! If you have any questions, please let me know. I am here to help! Kindly, Mrs. Clark |
1. Grand entranceGreet the teacher at the door in a polite manner. A hand shake or a smile would be a pleasant way to you to come in to Art.
Once inside... Pick up your warm up from your table's file box on the counter and sit down at your table, put your belongings underneath your chair and begin drawing. You can chat for a little bit with the people at your table. Just be prepared to quiet down once the teacher gives the signal for "Voices Off". 4. Teach Time( 10- 20 minutes depending on the lesson)
Teach time is just what it sounds like. This is where the teacher will review the agenda for the day and introduce new concepts and our next steps of the current project. As the student, you are expected to listen quietly and participate so you can be successful. 7. Dismissal(After cleanup to end of class)
The teacher will dismiss the class once everyone is in their seat and the room is ready for the next class. Remember to push in your chair! HIGH FIVE your teacher on the way out! I'll be there by the door waiting for you. |
2. Art Warm Ups(5-7 minutes)
Warm Ups are a daily grade. Once students are settled and the bell has rung for the beginning of class. The teacher will count down to voices off. Example: "Voices Off in 3, 2, 1." Once voices have been officially turned off by the teacher you will work independently on your warm up. If you talk without permission or are disruptive you will receive a discipline level. In order to get an "A" (100 pts), you must: - Draw for the whole warm up time. - Show effort and care in your work. Show me that you are challenging yourself. - Pay attention to your own work and keep from disturbing others. On a side note: You can bring your own sketchbook to draw whatever you wish, yet you will also need a warm up packet for a backup and for other instructional puposes. Warm ups are designed to help you have daily practice to improve as an artist. It is meant for all skill levels. No matter what, do your best. It is proven that drawing everyday will improve your skill. After warm up time is done you will be asked to "thumbs up" signaling that it is time to stop working on your warm up and silently look up, waiting for the next instruction. About Snacks: ** You may eat a classroom appropriate snack during this time. Water bottles must be stored under your seat, not on the table top to prevent spills. You are responsible for keeping your area clean and taking care of any garbage. You must be responsible about this privilege or you will lose it. 5. Studio(15 - 20 minutes)
This is the BEST part about being in art class and my favorite time. This is our activity time. You will get the opportunity to put your ideas and learning into action as well as ask additional questions. You may chat in your group voice with your tablemates. Brainstorming together for ideas is encouraged. Conversations should always be uplifting and appropriate! Stay on task and work hard! We don't waste studio time! Never Ever! |
3. Good THings(3 - 5 minutes)
After we make our social contract on how we agree to treat each other we will do a daily activity after warm ups called Good Things. Good Things is an activity where you share something positive you have going on in your life with the rest of the class. It is meant as a time to build relationships and as a way for all of us to come into your world and celebrate with you. What's it's not: A brag (Money, Possessions) What it is: A positive way to focus on what is good in your life and a way to invite others in to know you better and support you as a friend. Usually we have one person share from each table. (4 people share total.)The Teacher will be the first person to start and then students will choose who goes next. 6. Clean UpIt's Clean Up Time! A ten minute bell will ring towards the end of class. If we have a lot to clean up this will be our cue to stop working and clean up for the period change.
Everyone helps clean up. |
