Hello There Art Friends!
I have always loved Art. In kindergarten I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up and simply stated “A starving artist”. I am a native Texan, born in the small town of Orange. I lived in the same town in the same house my entire life until college. In middle school I was truly allowed to explore my passion through my art teacher, Mrs.Pitcher. Her door was always open for us to express our ideas and problems, as well as explore forms of art we had never experienced. She is why I became an art teacher. I have always had a vivid imagination and quirky style, both of which are very apparent in my artwork today.
The high school I attended didn’t have Art (Gasp!), so I found other ways to express my creativity, regularly decorating bulletin boards, drawing characters of my friends and silly dancing in my school mascot outfit. It came as no surprise to anyone that I decided to pursue my passion for the Arts when going to college.
I attended and graduated from the Lamar University in 2014. I began pursuing a drawing degree, then a painting degree and ultimately decided on an Art Education degree wanting to inspire others in the same way I had been inspired. Throughout college I was in several exhibitions and even won a few awards. After Graduation I got a job fairly quickly and have been in the classroom ever since. I am happy to have joined the amazing team here at Kelly Lane Middle School. My desire is for all of my students to explore the various mediums of art and discover the individual inner talents they possess!
While not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband, Pat and our two rescued dogs (Walter and Jake) and cat (Pugsley). We are foodies who enjoy trying new restaurants, going to the river, watching NetFlix, flying kites, playing card games and thrift shopping.
